THE A J A X CONNECTION
"I was playing against Panathinaikos in
the Europa League - my first game in that
competition. It was a tough game but we won
2-1 away. I remember it was a good battle. It
was our first match in the Europa League and
we didn't lose a game in the group. Looking at
this photo now, we couldn't have known that
we would go all the way to the final!"
"He is still the goalkeeper at Ajax now, Andre
Onana. He's a good friend, we still talk. We built
up a good relationship when we played together.
He's a very, very good goalkeeper. This picture
was taken in Schalke afterthe second leg of the
Europa League quarter-final. We qualified on
aggregate (4-3) after extra time to reach the
semi-finals"
"The Europa League Final against Manchester
United in 2017. They had experienced players
but we were an inexperienced team. For us,
the most important thing was to behave like
a normal game but they were so solid at the
back, they didn't concede a chance for us and
we couldn't shoot easily. It was a tactical game
and they won 2-0. It was the worst feeling. In
the picture, it was a good fight with (Marcus)
Rashford -1 didn't concede any space when I
clashed with him. My job in that moment was
to stop him. Martial and Lingard"

Davinson on tonight's semi-final: "It's special because I've got friends at Ajax. They are a good team and they are in the semi-finals
for a good reason - because they've played well. I played no more than 50 games there but I enjoyed it so much. It helped me to grow.
Before Ajax, I was at Atletico Nacional and they worked very similarly with the style of football. When you go to a new country you
have to adapt, to change. With Ajax it helped me a lot because it was my first experience in Europe. When you come from South
America, it's not always easy to adapt because of the different culture, different food and different weather. But Ajax was very good
for me and I am very thankful."
"That was taken at my last training session
with Ajax. David Neres is with me - he is still
there. It was crazy - I didn't train because I
had a small problem in my patella tendon but
people outside were saying'you don't want to
train because you want to leave'. But I didn't
know about that. I couldn't train because I'd got
injured.The media sent aphotographerto follow
me everywhere. I went to the supermarket to
buy milk and the guy even followed me there!"
"I scored a lot of goals! This was me celebrating one against AZ Alkmaar. It was quite late in the
season and we won (4-1). I was blowing a kiss to Daniela in the crowd, the girl who is now my wife!
It was a corner, I tried to score with my head, I couldn't connect because my marker was in the
way but then the ball was in the air and I managed to finish the action. In Spanish we call it the
chilena - it's the bicycle kick."
