it's the tie they'd all been hopingfor. Our ex-Ajax quartet
find themselves up against their former club for the
first time tonight - in nothing less than a Champions
League semi-final!
Jan Vertonghen, Christian Eriksen and Toby
Alderweireid all grew up and emerged onto the senior stage
with the illustrious Dutch outfit, while Davinson Sanchez spent
a year honing his craft in Amsterdam after moving from Atletico
Nacional in his homeland of Colombia.
Their respective footballing journeys have seen them unite
at Spurs in recent years - Belgian international defender Jan
was the first to swap Ajax for Nl7 back in the summer of 2012,
followed a year later by Danish playmaker Christian. Another
Belgian centre-half, Toby took a round-about route, initially leaving
Holland for a spell at Atletico Madrid in Spain and then spending
a year on loan at Southampton before joining us in 2015, while
fellow defender Davinson joined us directly from Ajax in 2017.
Ahead of this intriguingtwo-legged Europeantie, with agolden
ticket to the Champions League Final on offer for the winners,
the talented quartet reflect on their time in Amsterdam with the
aid of a select set of photographs and explain what it means to
them to be facing their old friends tonight.
