What He Said
MM "He wants to prove something to
everybody but Edgar Davids doesn't
have to do that because he's maybe the biggest
player in England, if you think about his silverware.
Nobody has won more than him but he still likes
to play for us because it's a young team and they
listen to him." - Martin Jol, commenting on Edgar
after the game
my career and almost always have been given that role"
Wigan managed a consolation goal a minute from time, when
Lee McCulloch tucked home from close range. Our players held
on for victory though, during a season in which they picked up
24 Premier League points on the road - an improvement of four
points on the previous season. We finished fifth in the table, two
points behind fourth-placed Arsenal.
Davids spent two seasons with us, making his competitive
debut in our colours in our 2-0 victory over Middlesbrough at
White Hart Lane on 20 August, 2005. He played in 31 matches
for us during his debut campaign, following that up with 13
appearances in 2006/07. His final game for us came in our
1-0 victory over Southend United in the League Cup on 20
December, 2007.
