He rose through the ranks at the Amsterdam club to make 155 appearances betweenl991andl996. Aside from the Champions League success in 1995, Davids also won three Eredivisie titles, two KNVB Cups, the UEFA Super Cup and Intercontinental Cup during his first spell with Ajax. A brief spell at Milan followed prior to Davids signing for Juventus in December 1997. During his six years with Juventus, Davids helped inspire the Bianconeri to three Serie A titles in 1998,2002 and 2003 and led them to two Champions League final appearances in 1998 and 2003. Juve's manager Marcello Lippi described him as "my one-man engine room". Davidsspentpartofthe2003/04seasonon loan at Barcelona before departing Juventus for Inter in the summer of2004. His 74th and final appearance for the Netherlands came during his two seasons at Spurs in a goalless draw with FYR Macedonia on 12 October, 2005. The midfielder returned to Ajax in 2007, for whom he played a total of 183 matches and scored 34 goals during his career. He briefly turned out for Crystal Palace during the 2010/11 season before becoming player-manager of Barnet between 2012 and 2014.
