with belief after another dazzling
display against Kilmarnock to follow
on from his eye-catching showing
away to Ross County,
The winger's explosive pace,
trickery and direct style have made
him a nightmare for defenders
since he broke into the Celtic team
as a teenager over five years ago.
But now that he's managing to
string together a consistent run of
games and avoid the all-too-familiar
curse of injury, his confidence is
blossoming.
"My season has kicked on from
pre-season and I just want to keep
going and playing," he said. "It's been
really good so far as I have been
playing a lot more games and I want
to continue.
"Having a good pre-season helped
and everyone in the team is feeling
fit. The gaffer will let me miss one
session so I'm ready for the next two.
A lot of the boys do extra training
in the afternoon and 1 fall into that
bracket. I need to keep on my toes
and do extra stuff."
The Scotland internationalist
reckons he's playing the best
football of his Celtic career but
he knows there are still areas of
improvement in his game,
"1 feel strong and it's definitely
up there in terms of the best I have
played," he said, "I'm just lacking a
couple of goals but that will come
with a bit more luck.
"The gaffer likes everyone
working at 100 per cent and I
would like to add some more goals
to my game but hopefully that will
come,"
Another home-grown Celt
following Forrest's path to the first
team is 18-year-old Kieran Tierney,
whose performance was one of the
shining lights in the recent home
loss to Molde.
When playing on the same side of
the pitch as the talented teenager,
Forrest now finds himself as the
more senior operator, though he
doesn't need to be constantly
dishing out advice and guidance to
his young colleague.
"He's been really good," he said,
"He has come through and hit the
ground running and he's got a good
head on him so I'm sure he will
keep that up,
"He's gives 100 per cent and he's
quick and good defensively and
he's not looked out of place since
coming in."
"You get experience through
games and I'm sure there will be
someone looking up to him soon.
It's just the way it goes but if s
brilliant to see young boys coming
through and he's doing really well,
"We have quite a few young
players training with us and it's
good for them to get experience
and I'm sure some of them will get
their chance over the next few
weeks and replicate what KT has
done,"
