LASSE SCHONE

The 21 -year-old Polish forward is enjoying
his second season as an Ajax player, and
his first on a permanent basis, having spent
last season at the Amsterdam ArenA on
loan from Bayer Leverkusen. Last year he
hit 16 goals for Ajax while this time around
he's got seven for the season so far. Milik
began his career with Rozwoj Katowice in
his native Poland, and while there he and
his team-mate, Wojciech Krol had trials with
Reading, Tottenham Hotspur and Legia
Warsaw. In the end, Milik joined Gornik
Zabrze in July 2011spending 18 months
there before moving to Germany and
Bayer Leverkusen. The following season, he
moved to Augsburg and then, last season,
had a loan spell with Ajax. A full Polish
internationalist, Milik will also be hoping
to star for his country in next summer's
European Championships in France, having
helped Poland qualify at the expense of
Scotland. Indeed, he netted one of the goals
for his country in the 2-2 against Scotland in
October last year.
Part of the ongoing and impressive Danish
connection that Ajax have cultivated over
many years, Lasse Schone, at 29, is one of the
most experienced players in Frank De Boer's
squad. Of more interest, and concern, to Celtic
supporters is the fact that he likes scoring
against the Hoops. In the 2013/14 season,
when the sides met in the group stages of the
UEFA Champions League, he scored in both
games, netting late on in his side's 2-1 defeat
at Celtic Park, and then scoring the only goal
of the game in the corresponding match at
the Amsterdam ArenA. And this season, he
came off the bench to score a late equaliser
for his side against Ronny Deila's men. Schone
made his professional debut for Dutch side, De
Graafschap back in 2006, and spent two years
there before moving to NEC. After four years
with the club, he made the switch to Ajax, and
helped them to league titles in 2013 and 2014.
He's also won over 20 caps for Denmark.
