EUROPA
Scored Ajax's first equaliser in the 2-2
draw with Ronny Deila's side over in
Amsterdam with a fantastic finish from
the edge of the area, and the Celtic
defence will undoubtedly be aiming to
keep the speedy winger under close tabs
tonight in Paradise. The 21-year-old is
yet another Danish player to have
made his mark at Ajax following
the likes of Frank Arnsen, Jesper
Olsen, Jan Mol by, Soren Lerby, the
Laudrup brothers and Christian
Eriksen. Fischer joined the Dutch
giants as a youth player, despite
the interest of several other big
European clubs, and he rapidly
rose through the ranks,
making his debut in the
2012/13 season. By the end
of that campaign, his dynamic
attacking displays had earned hirr
a regular starting slot and the Aja:
Talent of the Year accolade. After
an injury-hit 2014/15 season, Ajax's
No.7 has looked like a man on a
mission in the opening months of
the current term, scoring five times
in 10 league fixtures. Fischer made
his international bow for his country
at the age of 18 after being capped
at various youth levels, and he was
part of the Denmark side that suffered
disappointment against Sweden in
Euro 2016 play-offs last week.
LEAGUE
Signed in the summer from domestic
rivals AZ Alkmaar on a five-year contract,
the Serbian internationalist has quickly
cemented his position in the heart of the
Ajax midfield. Recruited to add steel,
energy and drive to a youthful side,
the Serbian internationalist has also
brought a decent amount of
goals, finding the net four times
in 12 league games to help the
Amsterdam outfit move into pole
position in the championship race.
Plowever, this goal threat shouldn't be a
surprise given he struck 11 times in 33
league games in the previous campaign
for AZ. Gudelj has spent his entire
professional career in Dutch football,
starting out with NAC Breda before
moving to Alkmaar, where his influence
on the side saw him elevated to the
captaincy. Fiaving been capped at youth
level for his country, he made his full
international bow early in March 2014
in a 2-1 win over the Republic of
Ireland. Fie has now amassed over
10 caps for Serbia, scoring his first
goal in a 2-0 victory over Greece
