TONIGHT, Paradise will become the first
football stadium in Britain to have a free,
full stadium WiFi network made available
to all supporters in the ground along with
an accompanying matchday mobile app,
CelticLIVE.
Real Madrid's Bemabeu Stadium is the only
other stadium in Europe which offers a service on
a par with that being introduced by Celtic.
Over the past few months, the process of
installing the state-of-the-art WiFi has been
undertaken, with a team of specialist engineers
installing miles of cabling, hundreds of antennas,
multiple access points and a variety if other
equipment and software required to deliver
one of the world's most advanced stadium WiFi
systems.
In recent weeks there have been a number of
tests carried out to ensure everything is up and
running in time for the latest big European night
at Celtic Park on Ttiesday. The new WiFi network
will ensure that supporters inside Celtic Park can
access the internet, personal data and share the
incomparable experience of seeing the Bhoys
play with fans around the world.
Celtic's new free matchday app, CelticLIVE, will
provide supporters with live, up-to-the-minute
content including text commentary, stats, video,
photos, voting and polling and more including
exclusive content available only to Celtic
supporters inside Celtic Park.
This will be generated by a dedicated team
based at the stadium on a matchday and led by
Content Manager, Stuart Hodge,
The lifelong Celtic supporter said: "Even putting
the fact that I'm working for the club I support
aside, this project is hugely exciting.
"The club are always trying to innovate new
ways to connect with the supporters and, in
many ways, I feel this is the ultimate means of
doing so - by providing content while fans watch
the game."
As weE as live statistics from OPTA - the
world's leading sports data company - being
delivered throughout the game, the app will feed
a variety of content cards straight to your mobile
device.
These will be delivered to every fan live on
the CelticLive app in the build-up to kick-off,
throughout the 90 minutes of the game, at
half-time, and then after the final whistle.
The digital information cards will include
live text commentary, video, quiz questions,
votes, games, as well as displaying a variety
of posts from social media sites, all designed
to complement and enhance the matchday
experience of every supporter.
"We have loads of really great stuff that I know
the fans are going to enjoy and get excited
about," Stuart explained.
"The team will be working hard to provide
content that engages Celtic fans both young
and old, because as well as the excitement
of following Celtic this season, we have to
remember that this club has a rich and unique
history that is a wonderful source of content for
every fan."
While the app is already packed full of
entertaining and informative features, Stuart is
adamant that it is only going to get even better
over time.
"We are already working hard behind the
scenes on new features for CelticLive with the
simple aim of continually improving the App
with more features and content ensuring that
CelticLive is a must for every Celtic supporter."
To be ready for the new WiFi network going live
on Ttiesday night, supporters can download the
new CelticLive app from Monday, October 21
The applications will be available on both iPhone
and Android devices. Go to www.celticfc.neF'
