have instantly welcomed our two
new signings Jacob Butterfield and
Steven Whittaker to the fold.
This group of players performed
marvellously well last season and I
have been pleased that the Club has
been able to agree new deals with
several players over the summer
months. I have been impressed with
the way they have taken to the pre
season work and everyone is focused
on building up fitness and form ahead
of when competition starts for real at
Craven Cottage on August 18.
This evening's game with Ajax has a
real two-fold appeal, firstly the name
and secondly the quality. The name
Ajax is synonymous with football in
Holland and across Europe, they are
very much seen as the leading lights
in their country and it is a pleasure
to welcome them to Carrow Road.
The quality they bring as Dutch
champions will be there for us all to
see this evening. They will of course
be competing in the Champions
League later this season so tonight's
game will certainly be a great
challenge for us.
Many thanks for coming along to
this evening's game. I know from
speaking to the staff and players,
plus attending Norwich games
myself, that the side enjoyed
fantastic support last season. That
backing from the crowd will be a
vital ingredient once again next
season as we continue to compete
in one of the toughest leagues in
world football.
Enjoy the game.
