THE GAFFER MARTIN JOL Bom: The Hague, 16.01.56 New Ajax head coach Martin Jol will be well known to English football fans after managing Tottenham Hotspur for three seasons. He signed a three-year contract with Ajax in May of this year after a short stint as Hamburg manager in the Bundesliga. Jol began his managerial career at ADO Den Haag in 1991 whilst they were still in the amateur leagues, before joining another amateur side, Scheveningen. Jol was appointed manager of Roda JC in 1996 where he stayed for two seasons, winning the KNVB Cup. He then joined RKC Waalwijk before moving on to Tottenham Hotspur in 2004. He left Spurs in 2007 but was soon back in management after Hamburg came knocking for his services. Jol led the Germans to the semi-finals of the UEFA Cup, but lost to Bundesliga rivals Werder Bremen.
