The whole world glued to Bristol as the best
footballers and the most exciting national teams
dazzle us on our doorstep!
A colourful, multi-cultural fiesta of fans filling
Bristol's famous Harbourside, piazzas and
parks, celebrating their own and other teams'
successes and failures en-route to World Cup
glory!
The FIFA World Cup is THE BIGGEST EVENT IN
THE WORLD, and it could be coming to Bristol in
2018. This is the chance we've got, a once-in-a-
lifetime chance, the opportunity to help put on
this event in our own backyard, the chance to
showcase Bristol around the world, the chance
to bring investment, passion, excitement, drama
and friendship to Bristol.
And it's all down to you! Once we've got a
new regional stadium for the whole of Bristol
to be proud of, it's only by demonstrating the
support of the whole city, the whole of the west
of England and Bristolians around the world that
we will persuade FIFA to bring the World Cup to
England and to Bristol.
We want Bristol to be the best World Cup
Host City ever, we want the whole world to
come and play, celebrate and enjoy what is
great about Bristol - and we need your help
right now to do it!
At the moment, Bristol is bidding to be a
Candidate Host City in England's bid to FIFA to
be the Host Nation for the 2018 (or even 2022)
World Cup.
FIFA will decide on the. host nations for
2018 and 2022 in December 2010, less than 18
months away.
Along with 10 other bidding nations, England
will submit its bid to FIFA in May 2010, less than
a year from now!
The England 2018 Bid Team will pick the cities
that they want to include as Candidate Host
Cities in December 2009, and that's only five
months from now!
Added to that, Bristol is competing against 14
other hopeful cities for the right to be included
in England's bid. That makes for some pretty
tough competition, but Bristol is in the Premier
League of English cities, and with a new regional
stadium in the pipeline, it has everything FIFA is
looking for.
We've also got to make sure that the England
2018 Bid Team and FIFA can see what is so great
and so special about Bristol, and why it is that
Bristol will be the best World Cup Host City ever.
