A defender of the highest quality, Ajax captain Stam famously
helped Manchester United win a Champions League,
Premiership and FA Cup treble in 1999. After three years with
the Red Devils the Rock of Kampen, as he is also known,
was controversially sold to Lazio before moving to AC Milan
and then Ajax in January 2006. Stam was voted the best
defender in the Champions League in 1999 and 2000 and
has 67 Flolland caps to his name.
