1 enjoyed good success against Ajax

nice it that could continue,"
CARLim
s European giants Ajax roll into
town for tonight's glamour
friendly, DaMarcus Beasley admits
he is desperate to face top quality
opposition like this regularly by
helping Gers clinch a Champions
League spot.
On the back of last week's matches
in Germany and Alex Totten's
Testimonial in Falkirk, the Light Blues
will finally kick off the action at Ibrox
and give the supporters their first
glimpse of the new signings.
Henk Ten Cate's side will
undoubtedly provide the sternest test
yet for Walter Smith's side but the
Dutch giants hold no fears for Beasley.
As a former PSV Eindhoven star the
American is clued up on what to
expect this evening and is tipping an
entertaining match.
Understandably excited about
making his home debut the 25-year-old
can't wait to play on the hallowed turf
and is aiming to continue his unbeaten
run against the Amsterdam outfit.
DaMarcus said: "I have been so
excited about playing at Ibrox, I saw
the stadium when I signed but it was
obviously empty.
"The first home game of the season
is always special and tonight we are
playing a great team and I'm sure the
fans will see a good game.
"They are a massive club and the
fact they are always in the Champions
League proves how strong they are.
"They are an excellent passing side,
although sometimes I think they try too
much, but on the whole they play
good football.
"They normally play a 4-3-3 system
and rely a lot on their wide guys up
front. I know how they work and
hopefully that can help us.
"They will be hard to disposes but if
we stay compact and mentally sharp
then we can get a good result.
"I enjoyed good success against
Ajax with PSV. We won three times and
drew the last encounter, so it would be
nice if that could continue."
Tonight's match will serve as an
integral part of Rangers' preparation for
next week's Champions League
qualifier and the manager is looking for
a top display from his team.
Beasley made history with PSV in
2005 when he became the first
American to make it as far as the semi
finals of the tournament and it's a
record he is proud to hold.
But never one to dwell on the past, the
former Chicago Fire star is looking to
make more history this time with Rangers.
There is only a week until the visit of
Zeta or Kaunas and Beas insists Gers
are focused on being 100 per cent
right to ensure they pass through to
the group stage.
He added: "We want to be playing
clubs like Ajax on a regular basis and
that is our motivation to get through
the Champions League qualifier.
"We know what we have to do and by
playing teams like Ajax and Chelsea now
we are testing ourselves at a high level.
"Hopefully that can help us when the
action starts for real at the end of the
month and we can progress into the
next round.
"Zeta did well in the first leg and
have a good chance of going through,
but we will have to wait until after the
game tonight to know for sure.
"Either way we know we have to be
absolutely ready for the match next
