FOOTBALL AND FRIENDSHIP
The qualifying rounds of the UEFA
cup, in which IK Start has partici
pated, have been quite exciting. The
last round in Ireland gave us victory
with the closest possible margin.
The Drogheda United team and the
club representatives were of course
disappointed by the result, but
they behaved remarkable friendly
towards us and wished us all the
best for the coming matches. We
felt that we left true friends when
we returned to Norway.
I really look back on the visits to the
Faroe Islands and Ireland with great
pleasure. The friendliness we were
met with was quite remarkable. I
expect that we are able to behave
in the same respectful manner, and
that the team and representatives
of Ajax will leave Norway with pleas
ant memories regardless of the
result of tonight's match.
It really is an honour for IK Start
to play against Ajax which ranks
among the top teams of Europe.
Unfortunately we cannot play on
our home ground this time owing
to the UEFA regulations. Our new
stadium is under construction and
will be opened march next year, a
few months too late.
Arasen Stadium is first class alter
native, and I feel confident that
the match will be entertaining and
exciting for the spectators. We look
forward to visiting Ajax and beauti
ful Amsterdam for the returning
match later this month.
Enjoy the match tonight!
