RANGERS TOUR OF SCOTLAND QPR ON TOUR IN SCOTLAND for the whole 90 minutes. QPR Fitness Coach Scott Rushton was delighted with the squad's trip to Scotland and the players' efforts both on and off the pitch. Rushton planned a rigorous week for the players including orienteering, rock climbing, assault courses, 6.30am swims and, of course, two games. Throughout the week, Rushton was aided by Warrant Officer Geoff Hancocks at RAF Kinloss - without whose help none of this could have been possible. He said: "The whole week was spot on and I really couldn't have asked for more. We've had two good games and it's been fantastic. "Geoff Hancocks has made my job very easy. Everything has been brilliantly organised for us in Scotland, allowing me to concentrate on the players. It was tough for the players, starting out at 6.30am, but everyone was up and everyone bought in to it." Rangers: Day, Perry (Bignot 46), Hamilton, Rose (Gnohere 46), Padula, Ainsworth (Rowlands 46), Bean (Johnson 46), Daly (Bean 65), McLeod (Ainsworth 65), Cureton (Thorpe 46), Furlong (Gallen 46) INVERNESS CALEDONIAN THISTLE 1 QPR 1 SATURDAY JULY 17TH 2004 Rangers fielded a strong first half line-up against the SPL side and then made a clutch of substitutions at the interval, including a first bow for trialist Jon Hjelde who replaced centre back Terrell Forbes. The Thistle goal was a beauty, but Rangers weren't to be denied and when a Jamie Cureton effort was tipped over, after good work from Kevin McLeod on the left, the same player poked home the resulting Martin Rowlands corner following a scramble in the area. NAIRN COUNTY 0 QPR 3 WEDNESDAY JULY UTH 2004 Speaking straight after the game, Ian Holloway was full of praise for his players' efforts. Rangers secured a comfortable victory against Nairn County on the first game of their Scottish tour. Having come on at the interval, Martin Rowlands scored the first goal only a minute in to the second period, finishing from a tight angle inside the area. A low strike, 15 yards out, from Kevin Gallen doubled the Rs' advantage in the 77th minute and in stoppage time at the end of the game Tony Thorpe nipped in to flick home a long ball over the top from the left hand side. Rangers fielded trialist Lewis Hamilton who, along with Chris Day and Gino Padula, played He said: "I was delighted with the performance. We started off a bit slugglish, but that is to be expected given that they're a couple of weeks ahead of us in terms of fitness. But after half time we just got better and better and I am very satisfied with what I've seen today."
