elcome back to Loftus
Road. Thankfully most
of the players were
able to enjoy a much
needed break after last
season's taxing
promotion winning campaign, which saw
the boys report back for duty on the first
Monday in July.
Marc.Bircham twisted his ankle right at the
start of our time on base at RAF Kinloss.
Birch experienced quite a lot of swelling to
his ankle, but initial scans report no serious
damage, and his x-ray returned no
structural concern. He will have repeat
scans this week, and we will have a better
idea of how far away he is once he's had a
few more days rest.
Big Dan, however, has been my constant
companion down at Twyford Avenue
throughout the summer. Dan's
rehabilitation has been really encouraging,
and he is progressing well ahead of
schedule, although it's too early to put a
date on his return.
Lee Cook is experiencing a little achilles
tendonitis and we will know more from his
scan early in the week. So we will have to
wait to see how serious his condition is,
and how much rest he will require. That
said, he is responding well to rest and
treatment.
Last week fitness coach Scottie Rushton
organised a fun little pre-season trip for
the lads up to RAF Kinloss in Scotland. It
was a hard week full of orienteering,
beach running, boxing, ball work and
games, amongst a host of other fitness
activities, which was as fun as it was hard,
and I certainly had a busy week making
sure everybody recovered properly, and got
the treatment they needed.
Richard Edghill pulled up a little sore with a
thigh strain while away with the squad and
should be back in full training this week.
He missed out on both games while on
tour, as did Nick Culkin, who will have
another scan this week to his injured
right knee. This has put back his rehab a
little bit and we will have to reassess a
time frame after we know the results of
the scans.
So another busy week, but with Ollie
having the bulk of his squad, we should be
in for a good hit-out tonight.
I hope you enjoy the game.
