Taking part in our Corporate Golf Day at Hollinwell Golf Club clearly did local professional Greg Owen the power of good. Greg has followed our fortunes for many years and eagerly accepted an invitation from our Finance Director John Peiling to take part in the competition. I don't know whether John passed on any pearls of his own golfing wisdom during the day but within weeks of the Hollinwell event, Greg had secured his first victory on the European Tour. He won the illustrious British Masters tournament - and with it a cheque for £250,000. We weren't able to offer such a large cash sum to the winner of our Corporate Golf Day but the event was still keenly contested. Mike Wood of Beechdale Motor Group and his guests landed the first prize with 86 Stableford points with Simon Winfield of Klinger and his guests in second with 81 points. The team representing Norn's Plant Hire, which was made up of Steve Norris and his guests, grabbed third spot with 79 points. Incidentally, Greg collected six birdies on his way round Hollinwell and, in the process, he put us mere mortals to shame! We are currently taking bookings for our third annual Academy Golf Day at Springwater Golf Club on Monday, September 1. All proceeds from the event go towards the running costs of our Academy, which has produced a string of excellent young players,
