Reid was 'Man of the Match' as Eire drew 1-1 with Georgia in an Under
21 Euro 2004 qualifier. Thompson also produced a prominent display.
We discovered we would face newly-relegated Sunderland at The City
Ground on the opening day of the new season when the fixture list
for the 2003-04 campaign was published.
Scimeca joined Premier League newcomers Leicester
City on a free transfer after turning down our offer of
a new contract.
The versatile performer made more than 160
appearances for us after arriving from Aston Villa
in a £2.5million transfer in 1999.
We were drawn to face Second Division Port Vale away from home in the
first round of the Carling Cup.
Louis-Jean pledged his long-term future to us by signing a new three-year contract.
The French defender had received offers from other clubs after becoming a
free agent but he opted to stay put at The City Ground.
He declared: "Ilove Forest and my wife and I are very happy in Nottingham.
"It would have been really difficult to have started again in a new city or town
in England and I must admit I did consider going back to France if I failed to
reach an agreement with Forest."
As Louis-Jean signed on the dotted line, Brennan joined Norwich on a free
transfer after rejecting our offer of a new deal.
There was a new face among our ranks as the first team squad reported back
for pre-season training, Leicester City midfielder Matt Jones.
The Welsh international was offered the chance to train with us by Paul Hart
with a view to a permanent move to The City Ground.
Jones, who worked under Hart as a youngster at Leeds, still has two years to
run on his Leicester contract but has been told he can leave The Walkers
Stadium on a free transfer.
