la quarta volta che I'Ajax scende a Torino
per un incontro di Coppa. Nel 1974 giocö
contra la Juventus negli ottavi delta Coppa
Uefa; nel 1978, sempre al vecchio Stadio
Comunale, replied contra i bianconeri, per
i quarti della Coppa Campioni. Gli olande-
si ritornarono poi nel 1992, e questa volta
al nuovissimo Delle Alpi, per affrontare il
Torino nella partita d'andata della Coppa
Uefa che poi si aggiudicarono. Stasera,
per la Champions League, sono di nuovo
in campo per una semifinale, che confer-
ma la loro eccezionale continuity a ricopri-
re, nel calcio europeo, una posizione di
assoluto prestigio.
Quarta partita, dunque, con I'augurio
di una quarta grande festa di sport. Torino,
infatti, una citta che sa rispettare, sem
pre, gli avversari di grande storia e di gran
de prestigio e in tutte Ie precedenti visite
dell'Ajax le partite con gli olandesi sono
state, al di la dei risultati, importanti occa-
sioni per un confronto di calcio, ma anche
per un vera appuntamento civile tra i tifosi
delle due squadre.
La certezza che anche stasera
sara cosi. Perché Juventus e Ajax merita-
no, davvero, di avere un contorno dove
vinca, come sempre, lo sport e la corret-
tezza.
It is the fourth time that AFC Ajax-
Amsterdam comes back to Turin to play a
Champion Clubs Cup match. In 1974, AFC
Ajax side played the UEFA Cup eighthth-
finals against Juventus FC, then replaying
in the Champions Cup quarterfinal, in the
old Comunale Stadium in 1978.
Furthermore, the Dutch came back to
defeat Torino FC in a first-leg UEFA Cup
that they won, in the new Delle Alpi Stadium
in 1992. In tonight's UEFA Champions
League semifinal, the AFC Ajax Amsterdam
is going to play another thrilling match so as
to confirm its past triumphs in European
competitions.
And then the fourth match, wishing
and hoping it will also be a great sport day.
As Turin traditionally respects the AFC
Ajax's glamour and tradition, all the pre
vious matches against the Dutch side were
not only exciting games, but also, and pre
viously, a supporters' date with fair-play.
And the same will be tonight, as both
Juventus FC and AFC Ajax really deserve
well behaving spectators.
