Arena two weeks ago were winger
TIGANI BABANGIDA and striker DANI
Portuguese youngster Dani opened
the scoring in the 25th minute and con
tinued with a goal just before half-time
which undoubtedly knocked the Gers off
their stride.
That deadly duo scored three out of
the four goals on the night, the other
coming from NORDIN WOOTER.
There are others in the
Amsterdam side who are a certain
ty to play this evening.
In goal is likely to be the experi
enced EDWIN VAN DER SAR but
Ajax will probably still be missing
respected defender DANNY BLIND.
The team captain missed the
last game with Rangers through
injury and is set to sit out once again.
Former Blackburn Rovers and
Barcelona midfielder RICHARD
WITSCHGE is another who Van
Gaal will put his trust in tonight.
The far travelled Dutchman is in
his second spell at Ajax - he's also
played with the likes of DWS Amsterdam
and Bordeaux - and he's a popular figure.
Others such as JARI LITMANEN
and MARC OVERMARS have been
hampered with injury recently - but again
it looks likely they'll feature this evening.
Overmars actually played in the
last encounter between the two sides
and worked wonders pushing up with fel
low forward Dani.
Another player who will also be
remembered from the Amsterdam Arena
clash is WINSTON BOGARDE who
was involved in the incident which
resulted in Paul Gascoigne's dis-
v missal.
Defender JOHN VELDMAN,
midfielder MARTIN REUSER
Stó^and ARNOLD SCHOLTEN,
who all started against
Rangers, are expected to feature
again.
Other possibilities are 19-year-old
KIKI MUSAMPA and MARIO
MELCHIOT. Reserve keeper will be
FRED GRIM
