By the end of this month 256 of the most talen
ted European football players will meet in
Austria to participate in the final round of the
European Under-16 Tournament, to be played
from 29th April to 11th May in 31 different
venues.
The opening match, between Austria and the
Republic of Ireland in St. Pölten, will be live on
Austrian television. «In fact, all Austria's matches,
as well as the final in Vienna, will be televised
live, which only emphasizes the good cooper
ation between OFB and the Austrian Television,
ORF, and the positive attitued of ORF to
football», says Fleinz Palme, press officer of
the Austrian Football Association (ORB).
This is the 14th version of the European Un
der -16 Championship but, for the first time,
it is being held in Austria. «Bearing in mind how
often ORB has organized UEFA events in a very

took a break from the weekend's skiing and ar
rived by helicopter to be present, and together
with the Lord Mayor of Vienna, Dr Michael
