Hajduk is a club of unique biography
and history, uncommon even for clubs
with unusual features. It was founded as
early as 1911 by four students from
Split who went to college in Prague and
brought both the rules and the ball to
Split. Football very soon captured the
hearts of its citizens that reulted in
founding the club "HAJDUK". It kept its
name for 83 years/founded officially
February 13, 1911 /even though it
functioned under four different
countries: Austro-Hungary, Jugoslavia
before and after II World War, and finally,
now in the independant Republic of
Croatia, survived two World wars and
the recent Serbian attack on Croatia.
During II World war it acted as an
ambassador of the newly founded
Jugoslavia playing as a representative of
a new country throughout the
Mediterranean countries. It matches
played against the British Army team on
September 23, 1944. in Bari /Italy/ were
registered as a major sporWevent in II
World war with over 50ËÉB spectators.
In its history Hajdukjpfëfó
championships, 10 cuBfand the
Croatian Super Cup three times. In spite
of its elderlwpge Hajduf has a saying: j>
"Hajduk lives forever". Many interesting
details can be found in its history ;Eor
example Hajduk was champion without
a lost match, white in 1924the entire

have played if it weren't for his Italian

Hajduk's map sure ssful period, "the
goldeh days" werêfhe seventies. From
1970 to 1980 fflfliiarvelous generation
of Hajduk/Holtzer, Buljan, Surjak,
Hlevnjak, Peruzovió, MuZinió, Zungul,
Oblak, RoZió, Katalinió, Jerkovió..../and
coach Tomislav Ivid managed to win
nine trophies: from Champion titles and
five Cups. It was this very generation
that brought the first successes on the
European sports field where Hajduk
remained in the following twenty years.
Hajduk's greatest results achieved in
Europe were two quarter-finals of
Champion Cup (1976 and 1980) as
well as the semi-finals of the Cup
Winner Championship (1973) and the
semi finals of the UEFA Cup (1984).
It is also interesting to note that its
management and professional staff were
always elected among the club, very

today when the Assembly President is
Mr. Vinko Cuzzi, Director Mr, Vedran
RoZic, Tehnical Directore-Mr. Ivan Buljan,
head Coach Mr. Ivan Katalinid, etc.

distincitive is its armyful of supporters,
loyal and temperamental, of which the
so-called Torcida is the mos|||namic.
