THE MANAGER
Ossie ARDILES
Born in Cordoba, Argentina, he played
for Red Star Cordoba, Cordoba
Institudo and Huracan (Buenos Aires) in
Argentina, before joining Spurs in July,
1978.
Scored 37 goals in 416 appearances, in
ail competitions, during his time at
White Hart Lane, collecting an F. A. Cup
winners medal in 1981 and a UEFA Cup
winners medal in 1984. Had a benefit
match here against Inter Milan in May,
1986.
Had loan periods at Paris St. Germain
(July-December, 1982) and Blackburn
Rovers (March, 1988). joined Queens
Park Rangers in August, 1988, and
played eight games for them. Had a
spell in the States with Fort Lauderdale
Strikers from June, 1989, returning a
month later to take over as manager at
Swindon Town.
Was manager at Newcastle United
from March, 1991until February,
1992, and took over at West Bromwich
Albion in May that year. Returned to
White Hart Lane, as manager, in June.
Collected a World Cup winners medal
with Argentina in 1978 and was
capped 42 times for his country.

Age 31 (born October 28, 1962).
Norwegian international who was
signed in December, 1988, having
spent a trial period here four years
previously. Born in Stavanger, he
played for Eik Tonsberg and Viking
Stavanger before signing for Borussia
Moenchengladbach in 1985. joined IFK
Gothenburg two years later.
Ian WALKER. (Goalkeeper)
Age 22 (born October 31, 1971
England Under-21 international who
was born in Watford and attended the
F.A. National School of Excellence at
Lilleshall. Has also been capped at
Youth and Under-19 level. Made his
Spurs debut at Norwich City in April,
1991having already made his League
debut on loan to Oxford United six
months earlier.

Age 24 (born December 18. 1969).
Signed from Southend United where
he started as a YTS player in 1986.
Turned professional two years later and
came to White Hart Lane on loan in
April, 1990. The move became
permanent, three months later, and he
finished his first full season at Spurs
with an F.A. Cup winners medal.
Dean AUSTIN (Defender)
Age 23 (born April 26, 1970).
Bom in Hemel Hempstead, he joined
Watford as aTrainee in 1986, switching
to non-League St. Albans City two
years later. In March, 1990, he moved
to Southend United, making his League
debut against Burnley the following
month. Joined Spurs last May, and has
enjoyed a consistent first season.
Gaty MABBUTT. (Defender)
Age 32 (born September 23, 1961
Club captain who joined Spurs from
Bristol Rovers in August, 1982. Served
his apprenticeship at Rovers, signing
professional in January, 1979. Gained
England caps at Youth, Under-21, 'B'
and Full international levels. Led Spurs
to an F.A. Cup Final victory in 1991 and
also won a UEFA Cup winners medal in
1984.
Colin CALDERWOOD. (Defender)
Age 28 (born January 20, 1965).
Became Ossie Ardiles' first signing with
his transfer from Swindon Town in July.
Born in Glasgow, he began his career as
an apprentice with Mansfield Town in
May, 1981turning professional in
March, 1982. Moved to the County
Ground in June, 1985, and scored 21
goals in 409 League and Cup
appearances for them.
Jason CUNDY (Defender)
Age 23 (born November 12, 1969).
Joined Spurs on loan from Chelsea in
March, 1992, the move becoming
permanent in June. Wimbledon born,
began as a Trainee at Stamford Bridge
in the summer of 1986, signing
professional in August, 1988. Made
his Spurs debut at home to Coventry
City in March, 1992. Has been
honoured by England at Under-21
level.
Paul ALLEN. (Midfield)
Age 31 (born August 28, 1962).
Born at Aveley, Essex, he joined West
Ham United as an apprentice in July,
1978, and turned professional a year
later. Became the youngest-ever
player to appear in an F.A. Cup Final
(at 17 years and 256 days) in 1980 and
was part of our victorious side of 1991
Signed for Spurs in June, 1985. Former
England Under-21 and Youth cap.
Steve SEDGLEY. (Midfield)
Age 25 (born May 26, 1968).
Born in nearby Enfield, he played for
Spurs as a schoolboy but opted to join
Coventry City as an apprentice.
Upgraded to professional in June,
