PROGRAMME REVIEW YOU SUPPLY THE TALENT MITRE SUPPLY THE REST MITRE ARE THE SOLE MANUFACTURER SUPPLIER TO THE ENGLISH FOOTBALL LEAGUE OF THE EXCLUSIVE DELTA DESIGN OFFICIAL MATCH BALL. 25 YORK CITY York's programme was certainly one of the most attractive-looking Fourth Division issues of the season recently ended. The cover featured a large football with action shots overlaid, a very effective design, while colour is used liberally and tastefully throughout the 32 pages. The programme for Burnley's championship decider was the one originally produced for the game on 10th March, which was postponed following the death of Ben Lee, with a four-page supplement updating club news, the League table, and the team line-ups. The supplement was on sale separately at the game for 20p. The programme featured several good articles. Fourth Division scene including a detailed survey of attendances as well as the division's highest scores and hat-tricks, Back Track covered matches played on the same date (in considerable detail by David Batters) and past encounters with Burnley, and there was more than adequate club coverage including reserves and youth team pages. A novel feature was a pull-out full-colour poster, in this case of John McCarthy. York were among the Fourth Division programme award winners for 1991/92. The programe wouldn't make my personal top three, but it certainly showed that the smaller clubs could equal the big boys in most respects. ROCHDALE Burnley's match at Rochdale was of course another victim of postponment, and the programme was originally produced for 18th April; in the peculiar circumstances of when the game was finally played, much of the reading had obviously become out-of-date, but maybe it would be too much to expect a fresh issue at such short notice. It was the standard 32 pages for £1, and most of the usual features. Midweek round-up covered divisional matters in plenty of detail, while a full page was devoted to leading scorers (English and Scottish) and attendance statistics. Season 1969/70 was the subject of a full page, including all the results of that year, while half-time browsers were well catered for with a quiz and a crossword. Apart from the cover the front featured a montage of action shots colour wasn't much in evidence, and the feeling was that printing costs had been kept reasonably low. Nevertheless, a good overall effort. Wallace Chadwick.
