Rangers start the season with a
new sponsor and a new playing
strip. Earlier last month the Club an
nounced a lucrative three year spon
sorship deal with Scottish Brewers
which ranks as one of the richest
agreements in British Football.
McEwans Lager is the brand back
ing Rangers and the name will be
carried on the front of all team strips.
In addition to shirt advertising, our
new sponsor will also feature pro
minently in Ibrox itself as the Govan
Stand is to be renamed the McEwans
Govan Stand. Hospitality is also in
cluded and Scottish Brewers will be
able to entertain guests in the
prestigious Thornton Suite.
Trackside and programme advertis
ing are also included in the
agreement.
Prompting Scottish Brewers in
volvement with Rangers was the
revitalised interest in Scottish Foot
ball. Their association with the Club
is aimed to create a high profile for
McEwans Lager in a very com
petitive lager market.
Sales Director for Scottish Brewers,
Alastair Wilson, said: "We are seek
ing a greater increase in our share of
the lager market in the West. We are
supremely confident that this new in
volvement with Rangers is going to
have a big influence."
The sponsorship announcement
coincided with the unveiling of
Rangers' new strip deal with Umbro
International. The new kit forms only
part of the overall leisurewear
package Umbro has put together for
the Club and made available from
retailers throughout Britain.
The most unusual feature of the
new Umbro shirt is the press-stud
fastening at the neckline.
