Jan Weggelar, 29.10.60 (Midfield)
A former outside right who was turned into a
reliable defender by the Ajax coaching staff
and has since become a fine midfield player.
He makes up for his lack of height with his
speed and courage and is a great favourite
with the Ajax fans. Another emerging star who
has performed well when called upon by the
first team in various important games over the
past two seasons.
Wim Kieft, 12.11.62 (Forward)
At 19 years of age Kieft was the sensation of
Dutch and European football last season.
Signed by Ajax as a ten-year-old he made his
first team debut early in the season and
amazingly finished the term with the coveted
title of Europe's top goalscorer with 32 to his
credit. A certain star of the future he has
already been capped by Holland and scored
their only goal in the friendly at Hampden last
season.
Jesper Olsen, 20.3.61 (Forward)
Joined Ajax shortly before the beginning of the
1981-82 season from the Danish club
Neastved. He is one of the most talented
players to come out of Denmark in the past few
years and recently gained international recog
nition. Usually plays as a striker but can also
play left midfield.
Gerald Vanenburg, 5.3.64 (Forward)
A player for whom a great future is being
predicted. Made his debut for the first team
two years ago when only 16. He has already
had a taste of European football as he came
on as a substitute against Tottenham Hotspur
in the Cup Winners' Cup last season. A mid-
field player who has more recently been used

Joined Ajax in 1980 from FC Amsterdam. He
started his career with Zeeburgia who are
based only a couple of hundred yards from the
Ajax stadium. He is a left winger with a lot of
skill who offers a valuable alternative to the
attacking system employed by Ajax
Other players who might feature in tonight's
match are Jan Molby, a 19-year-old Danish
defender who was signed in the close season.
Molby scored on his debut in the opening
game of this season against Go-Ahead
Deventer and repeated the feat the following
week with a powerful free-kick in Ajax's defeat
at Groningen. Johnny Van 'T Schip an 18-
year-old forward who had the misfortune of
missing the penalty which lost Ajax their own
pre-season tournament to AZ67. Leo Van
Veen, a 35-year-old defender, and Rikki Van
Roon, a 20-year-old midfield player.
