WEST A message vnimztinimiM from the Chairman ALBION EC LTD Most, if not all of us have at some time or other celebrated a birthday. We are here today to commemorate the existence of West Bromwich Albion whose formation goes back 100 years. Recognised the world over, pioneers into China last year, founder members of the Football League, the club has much to be proud of. Albion's achievements are praiseworthy in the League, Football League Cup and particularly the Football Association Cup as the records show, 18 times semi-finalists, ten times finalists and winners on five occasions is an excellent record. The past is history. We are poised on the threshold of a great future. Last season we accomplished much in the way of entertainment whilst falling just short of the honours. We hope to readjust the balance to bring some tangible reward to celebrate the Centenary. Our opponents today have a magnificent record in their domestic competitions and provide us with good competition. To meet again some of the players who have helped to make our history will bring a touch of nostalgia to the proceedings. All in all the birthday party should befit the occasion. I and my colleagues trust that everyone, competitors and supporters alike will enjoy the occasion.
