IT IS MY privilege and pleasure to congratulate
Rangers F.C., in this, their Centenary Year.
They have written many glorious pages in the
history of Scottish football. They have worthily
upheld the prestige of Scottish football on many
occasions, and for this alone, The Scottish Football
Association is grateful.
The wonderful contribution they have made at
international level is reflected in the amazing
number of their players who have proudly worn
Scotland's colours down through the years.
The winning of the European Cup Winners'
Cup, in season 1972-73, was only what the club
richly deserved, and proved what we had thought
to be the case, viz. that they were the best club
in that competition.
It is my sincere wish that Rangers will continue
to uphold their glorious tradition, and I do wish
them all that is good in the coming year.
