Het is ons een groot genoegen om de spelers, comité, en de tienduizenden supporters van AJAX
voetbalclub welkom te heten voor de vanavond gespeelde EUROPA BEKER FINALE.
We hopen dan ook dat Uw verblijf in Engeland, en bezoek aan Wembley, onvergetelijk voor jullie

I am very pleased indeed to welcome the English Fans and those from a number of other countries in particular
from the Netherlands and from Greece to this magnificent Wembley Stadium.
May I take this opportunity of thanking The Football Association for the excellent organisation of this Final and
convey to them the best greetings of UEFA.
The regular participation of top-class clubs from England has, certainly, contributed to a great extent to the
present-day popularity of the European Cup.
Without any doubt, this 16th Final-Tie of the European Champion Clubs Cup between Ajax Amsterdam second-
time finalist of this Competition and Panathinaikos of Athens who, for the first time attained this heavily contested
aim, participation in the Final, will give us an opportunity to watch interesting and thrilling football.
Es ist mir ein Vergnügen' hier im Wembley-Stadion die englischen
Fussba/i-Fans so wie die zahlreichen Fussba/lfteunde aus anderen
Landern nament/ich aus Holland und Griechenland Willkommen
heissen zu dürfen.
Ich benütze die Gelegenheit, um der Football Association für die
ausgezeichnete Ausrichtung dieses Spiels zu danken und die
Grüsse der UEFA zu überbringen.
Der Europa-Cup ist nicht zuletzt durch die rege/mëssige Tei/nahme
der führenden englischen K/ubs so popular geworden.
Zweifel los wird uns dieses 16. Endspie/ im Pokal der Europaischen
Meistervereine zwischen Ajax Amsterdam, das zum zweiten Mal im
Endspiel dieses Wettbewerbes steht und Panathinaikos Athen, das
zum er sten Mal das ersehnte Ziel, die Tei/nahme am Finale erreicht
hat, interessanten und spannenden Fussba/I bieten.
Je suis extrêmement heureux d'accueillir dans ce magnifique stade
de Wembley les amis britanniques du football ainsi que ceux qui
sont venus si nombreux d'autres pays notamment des Pays-Bas et
de la Grèce.
Je saisis cette occasion pour remercier la Football Association de
/'organisation excellente de cette rencontre et pour lui transmettre
les salutations de /'UEFA.
Ce nest pas en dernier lieu grace a la participation réguliere des
grandes équipes ang/aises que la Coupe d'Europe a atteint sa
popularité actuelle.
II n'y a aucun doute que cette 16e Finale de la Coupe des Clubs
Champions Européens, disputée entre Ajax Amsterdam finaliste de
cette Compétition pour la deuxième fois et Panathinaikos d'Athènes
qui, pour la première fois a accédé au but convoité: la participation
a la finale, offrira au public un football intéressant voire passionnant.
