O FICS EXTENDING THE FINANCIAL WORLD with your regulators with your customers Interf@ce Faced with relentless change, financial institutions in Europe have repeatedly needed to think on their feet. The implementation of the Capital Adequacy Directive was a good example of how decisions made in Brussels and Strasbourg can force banks to make choices - and investments - with untold urgency. And with the euro just around the corner, the pace of change does not look set to slow down. All the more reason to find a partner that can provide the technology to cross new bridges - and new territory - in a timely manner. At FICS Group, we monitor changes in European legislation and adapt our technology accordingly. Our regulatory reporting solution ABACUS, provides a set of rules and parameters to enable institutions to meet CAD and EMI reporting requirements across Europe, and we have put dedicated teams of consultants in place to adapt our offering to all future legal stipulations. Recently, we have been extending our reporting solution in fight of the regulations comprising CAD II. CAD II will give financial institutions more "elbow room" for using in-house risk calculation models when submitting statutory reports, subject to the initial and ongoing approval of the regulator. Our new ABACUS Financial Calculator (AFC) product has been designed to help institutions implement just this sort of model, while offering extended functionality to generate synergy with existing risk The Internet, new security protocols and e-commerce have opened up new ways for banks to interact with the external world. In an increasingly competitive world, technology represents a practical opportunity to forge partnerships, reduce costs, retain existing customers and increase market share. FICS Group has a history of helping financial institutions to reach their customers through electronic channels. Our systems for corporate and retail banking are up-and-running at banks in the majority of EU countries. The modular, multilingual, and multicurrency aspects of our banking products have helped to address Europe's cosmopolitan needs. Naturally, all are ready- prepared for the euro. And as the decision-makers in Brussels are active in making barriers fall, FICS Group has been opening frontiers of a more technological kind. We are currently extending the reach of banks by prototyping banking systems for a more mobile customer (through PDAs, mobile phones, etc.). Our R&D team is investigating the profit-making possibilities of the virtual world through push technology and browser based applications. What's more, our innovation in the area of electronic pUTSeS, Internet security and transaction processing will help financial institutions to provide the backbone to the burgeoning of e-Commerce.
